I received my Bachelor and Master Degrees from Alabama State University.
My name is Lameatrices Perkins. Most know me by Mimi. I have taught at Daniel Pratt since it was built in 1997.
I have taught kindergarten, 2nd, and 3rd grade.
I have an undergraduate and master's degree in early childhood education.
Mrs. Perkins’ Discipline Plan
It is my goal as a professional educator to provide a positive, safe atmosphere along with a developmentally appropriate learning environment to motivate the learning of each child. To achieve this goal, consistent boundaries are set for the students. These boundaries allow for security, growth, and they encourage good behavior.
Our rules are:
Listen when others are talking and raise hand to speak.
Follow directions quickly.
Respect others by keeping hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
Work quietly and do not disturb others.
Children will be given opportunities to communicate with their peers throughout the day, as I believe children learn from one another.
The discipline plan consists of the color/clothespin system. This system allows students to keep track of their behavior each day. Every child will start the day on yellow and follow this clothespin move:
1st problem behavior-verbal warnings and clothespin moved to pink(Think About It).
2nd problem behavior- clothespin moved to red(Teacher’s Choice) which is time off free time, time away from students, or contacting the parents. This indicates that the student did not correct their behavior.
**Students will color in a square on their behavior chart to represent the day they have had.
