 Too Good for Violence/ Physical Fitness Program

PE class Rules and Regulations/Fire, Torando and Intruders Drills 

On inclement weather days we will be in the gym participating in a variety of locomoter skill games.

Skill Development: Demonstrate jumping and landing skills by using one and two foot takeoff methods, balancing at a varying levels on multiples body parts.

Activities: Relays, kicking soccer balls and jumping ropes.

Resources: Teacher Demomstration/hoola hoops,beans bags,and jump ropes.

Assessments:Teacher Observation-Show-n-Tell

Perform individual and partner stunts.

Activities: The students will be able to perform the following animals walks crab,bear and alligator with and with the use of music.

Individual stunts jump turns and line walk and partner stunts bouncing ball.

Explain the importance of empathy for feelings, concerns, and liminitation of peers.

Skill Development: Demonstrate ball moving skills by passing, dribbling a ball with dominant hand, kicking a slow moving ball, and throwing underhand with one arm.

Activities: Students will be able to kick playground balls, catching and tossing bean bags, dribbling basketballs, soccer balls and throwing softballs or tennis balls.

Resources: Teacher Demonstration-Bean bags, tennis balls, soccer balls and softballs.

Assessments: Teacher Observation/Show-n-Tell

Social Development: Explain ways to resolve conflicts during physical activity in a school-approved manner.

Participating in a role-play conflict resolution scenarios associated with PE and sports setting. Cooling off, walking away and speaking in a calm voice.

Skill Development: Use the correct grip while consistently striking a softly thrown ball with a bat or paddle.

Activities-Hitting a softball, wiffle ball, striking a tennis ball against the wall also volleying a tennis ball with a partner.

Resources: Teacher Demonstration/softballs,wiffle balls and volleyballs.

Assessments: Teacher Observation/Show-n-Tell

Cognitive Development: Describe how stability affects skill execution while participating in physical activity.

Activities: Climbling wall activities on the playground also gymnastic activities.

Physical Activity and Health: Describe how the blood supplies oxygen and nutrients to the body.

Including teacher-led discussion. The smallest blood vessels, which supply oxygen and nutrients to the cells of the tissue, are called:Capillaries, vena cava, arteries and veins.

Activities: Double Dutch jump rope. Short ropes using a variety of steps such as heel click and skipping.

Cognitive Development: Identify cue words and terms associated with leaping, striking and kicking.
