I have been a Registered Nurse for 22 years. My areas of experience include 2 1/2 years of Maternal-Child Nursing on the Postpartum floor at Baptist Medical Center-South where I cared for many wonderful women and their newborn babies. For five years I was the Board Certified Diabetes Educator at Baptist Medical Center-South. I was responsible for caring and educating diabetic patients (inpatient and outpatient) on their daily care of their diabetes. Then in 1993, I became a mom and decided I wanted to spend time with my daughter. So, I began my career as a school nurse in Montgomery County, caring for teen moms in conjunction with the Gift of Life program. I was responsible for the students at Bellingrath Jr. High, Goodwyn Jr. High, Houston Hill Jr. High and Lanier High School. In 1994, I came to Autaugaville Elementary and High School through the Alabama Department of Public Health as a seed grant nurse performing EPSDT (medicaid) screenings in the school. For the next couple of years I also served the students at Marbury High School as well. I came on board with the Autauga County School System as the school nurse when Daniel Pratt Elementary School opened in 1997. So, I have been the school nurse here for 12 years now and I have watched this school grow by leaps and bounds.
