My Educational Background:

   RtI Facilitator

As a facilitator of Response to Intervention (RtI), I carry out universal screening three times a school year. Universal Screening is the process of reviewing every student's data to ensure they are successfully meeting grade level expectations. (Data reviewed includes Performance Series Scores, DIBELS Scores, attendance, discipline, and grades.) If a student's data reveals he/she is having difficulty, then the Problem Solving Team (PST) meets to review the academic needs of the student. Meetings are held monthly for tier two and three students, and parents are notified by a letter that is sent home after the monthly meeting.

The PST at DPES works alongside each other daily, and has the best interest of our students at the forefront of all decision making.

My Philosophy of Teaching
(condensed version)

"I believe that learning is a life long process and it starts with an effort to do one's best accompanied with a passion to obtain the goals one sets. Children should be emersed in a learning enviroment that provides inquiry and discovery. Reading should open doors to many opportunities and allow children to explore the world around them, as well as, let their imagination expand beyond their known limits!"

This is my twelth year of teaching, and I have been at DPES for all twleve years. I taught fourth grade for my first five years, and have worked as an RtI Facilitator the past six. I enjoy spending time with my first grader, Zoie. We enjoy downtown Prattville and all it has to offer (hiding rocks, playing in the creek, and all the fun places to get a treat).
