DPES Tardy Policy

Coming to school every day and on time is absolutely necessary for a child's successful learning. It is very difficult for a child to catch up even if some instruction is missed during the day.

Therefore, any student not seated in his/her classroom when the 8:00 bell rings is considered tardy to school. A student arriving after 8:00 a.m. must report with his/her parent/guardian to the front office and sign in, giving the reason for being late. Students that are signing in late due to a doctor/dentist appointment must have an excuse from the doctor/dentist to be considered an excused tardy.

The following consequences will be given for tardiness per semester:

All Unexcused Tardies

Parents will receive a Notification Letter from the front office

detailing the consequences listed below.

Tardy 3 Parent notification by Teacher

Tardy 4 Parent notification by Administrator –

Morning Detention

All unexcused tardies after the 4th one will result in morning detention . Morning Detention will be held in the library from 7:00am-7:45am. If your child does not attend morning detention, he/she will be assigned 1 day of ISS.

Please remember carpool closes at 7:55 AM.
