Keep in touch in case of emergency
Be in the know when it comes to emergencies...

Parents,

During this past year we have been faced with several days that we have had early release because of weather.  We would like to take this opportunity to explain some of the proper and updated procedures.  Please keep in mind that at DPES student safety is always put first and while some of the procedures may seem extreme they are truly in the best interest of your children.  Keep in mind we have 1,320+ children to get home safely during a very small window of time, and not one of them is more important than your child.

  • When an early release is necessary it is announced by the superintendent, at that time he informs all principals and plans are put into motion.  ALL announcements are released to the media and reported on channel 12 WSFA and radio station MIX 103.3; it is also sent out through the use of Notify Me from our school website program.
  • When registered to this any important infomation will come to your email and/or cell phone.
  • Some teachers will call parents but this is not required.
  • After announcements are made, children may be checked out by entering the front door of the building.  YOU MUST PARK IN THE PARKING
LOT.  Do not park on the front of the building.  Handicap buses will begin picking up children and we cannot block the front drive to the building AT ANY TIME.
  • 45 minutes prior to releasing children checkout WILL BE STOPPED (example: if release time is 2:00, no check out will be allowed after 1:15).  If you get to the school after this time REPORT TO THE CARPOOL LINE, entering from Jay Street.  If your child is normally a bus rider and you arrive after check out has stopped, they will be placed on the bus.
  • Walkers will report to the CARPOOL line.  They will not be allowed to walk home during bad weather.  Parents will need to go to CARPOOL line, entering from Jay Street.
  • YMCA children will be released from the back of the building and report to the Bradford Branch where they can be picked up.
  • Day care children:  CALL YOUR DAY CARE and find out if they will be picking up.  If they will not be picking up, those children will also be in the CARPOOL line.  Parents report to carpool line to pick up children, entering from Jay Street.

If you try to call the school, be aware you may not get an answer.  If you have questions refer to this plan AND turn on the local news and/or check our website for updates.
