Grinch Gives Back

Everyone, get excited about being generous! The school-wide focus this month is being generous, and so D.P.E.S. wants to show Autauga County how generous we can be! If the whole school raises 3000+ cans, Mr. K, Ms. McNider and Ms. Gazell, will have to eat lunch on the roof. We will celebrate our generosity by showing the Grinch movie during lunch on WHO Hair Day, Wednesday, December 18.
o Thursday- Dec. 12, Trio of Veggies Thursday (Corn, Peas, Green beans)
o Friday- Dec. 13, Fruity Friday (cans please)
Santa will visit DPES on Dec. 13
1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders will have an opportunity to visit with Santa
Pictures offered for $5.00 each, all funds raised will be dedicated to our technology fund
Friday, Dec. 13, 5:30-7:30, Grades 4-6 ONLY
Tickets will be sold at the door only, $5 each
•· Doors will open at 5:30 PM. Grades 4 & 5 students enter side doors off Jay Street. Grade 6 & "combo" kids (siblings or children of multiple grades) enter at front doors. Parents are not required to enter but are welcome to attend, doors will lock at 6:00, no one in or OUT until 7:30.
PARK IN PARKING LOTS.
•· Doors will LOCK at 6:00 PM. NO ONE will be allowed IN OR OUT from 6:00-7:30 (students or adults).
This is for safety of our students.
•· Dismissal will begin at 7:30. DO NOT COME INSIDE TO PICK UP STUDENTS! We WILL NOT allow parents to walk up and get children. You must follow procedures.
•· GRADES 4 & 5 students will be picked up off Jay Street entrance following normal carpool procedures.
•· Grades 6 & ‘combo' (siblings or children of multiple grades) will be picked up "carpool style" from the front of the building driving through the loop.
(Example: If you have a child in 4th grade and 6th grade, they need to be picked up at front doors.)
•· MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD KNOWS WHERE YOU WILL PICK THEM UP- front or side
•· Dress code will be enforced.
•· Students with poor behavior will be sent home.
•· DPES students only are allowed (grades 4-6).
•· IF students have cell phones, they must be off.
•· Miscellaneous snacks and items will be sold, $1-$5 each

Thank you to everyone who has placed their 6th grade ads for the 2013-14 DPES yearbook! The yearbook staff has been given a one-time opportunity to extend the deadline to Friday, December 13th. If you would still like to place an ad for your 6th grader, be sure to have it in by our new and final deadline. Forms are available in the DPES front office and on the APT web site. Questions? HAVE YOUR CHILD CHECK LOST AND FOUND FOR ANY LOST ITEMS.
ALL REMAINING ITEMS WILL BE DONATED TO CHARITY ON DEC. 20th.
DPES tardy policy is now being enforced. Therefore, any student not seated in his/her classroom when the 7:55 bell rings is considered tardy to school. A student arriving after 7:55 a.m. must report with his/her parent/guardian to the front office and sign in, giving the reason for being late. Students that are signing in late due to a doctor/dentist appointment must have an excuse from the doctor/dentist to be considered an excused tardy.
Both the Jay Street entrance and the McQueen Smith entrance open at 7:15.
· The McQueen Smith entrance closes at 7:45. If you arrive after 7:45 you will be directed to the Jay Street entrance/ front office to sign your child in for a tardy slip and parent notification letter.
· The Jay Street entrance closes at 7:55. If you arrive after 7:55, you will be directed to the front office to sign your child in for a tardy slip and parent notification letter.
